Latitude Gallery’s story began with Pia Boschetti otherwise known as ‘the girl who grows the pearl’ who started pearl farming in the family business in 2000.
Pia grew up at the Abrolhos Islands spending many months of the year there with her family whilst they were lobster fishing. Pia was the first baby baptised and also married in the island church. Working on the ocean for many years in many parts of the world, Pia embraced the opportunity to farm pearls at the Abrolhos Islands. She started Latitude Pearls initially to sell only her pearls and now it has evolved into Latitude Gallery as each piece that was being created she considered a work of art. Allowing the jewellers ‘the freedom to create’ created an amazing work of art which should only being displayed in a Gallery not just a jewellery store. Now Latitude Gallery creates wonderful pieces of jewellery using diamonds and all gemstones.
Pia explains "At Latitude Gallery we believe a piece of jewellery should tell a story. A story created by the customer and a jeweller who makes a customer’s dream come true. Each stone has a meaning, each style represents a personality, each piece to be treasured for a lifetime."
Pia still plays a big part in the farming of the pearls at the Abrolhos Islands and spends up to 4 months each years living in those remote waters.
With her recent addition of two other Galleries in Queensland one in a historical town called Montville and the other on Hastings Street in Noosa, and her overseas exhibitions in Fort Lauderdale in the USA it's exciting to see where Latitude Gallery will be next. Many pieces are available from the online store but should you be in the region where one of her galleries are be sure you will be 'wowed' by the experience.
